RPE calculator
Turn weight, reps and RPE into an e1RM, or work back from an e1RM to the weight for any rep count and RPE.

The RPE scale
RPE (rate of perceived exertion) rates a set by how many more reps you could have done. These are the hints TopSet shows when you pick an RPE.
- RPE 10
- Just finished your last possible rep
- RPE 9.5
- 1 rep left, at your limit
- RPE 9
- Barely 1 more rep
- RPE 8.5
- 1-2 reps left
- RPE 8
- 2 reps left
- RPE 7.5
- 2-3 reps left
- RPE 7
- 3 reps left
- RPE 6–6.5
- 4 reps left, still easy
- RPE ≤ 5.5
- Very easy, far from your limit
Video: how it works
How to use it
- Pick the reps and the RPE.
- Type a weight to get your e1RM, or type an e1RM to get the weight. The other field fills in and shows Auto.
- Use the RPE chart below to see every rep and RPE pair at once.
The same RPE calculator sits at the bottom of every set card in TopSet. It works without an account.

TopSet uses OpenPowerlifting’s RPE formula. It works out how many reps the set was from a true max single (x below), then turns that into a multiplier: the share of your 1RM the set used.
If you pick No RPE, the set counts as RPE 10, with no reps left. One rep at RPE 10 is your 1RM.
Example: 100 kg × 5 at RPE 8 gives x = 6, a multiplier of 0.8124 and an e1RM of 123.1 kg.
When you work back from an e1RM, the weight is rounded to the nearest 2.5 kg so you can load it.
x = (10 − RPE) + (reps − 1)
x ≤ 2.92: multiplier = (0.347619x² − 4.60714x + 99.9667) / 100
x > 2.92: multiplier = (97.0955 − 2.64249x) / 100, never below 0.5
e1RM = weight ÷ multiplier
